During the dry season food is plentiful such as the 30 cm (12 inch) Gar loved by the Florida Alligator!

Which Anole below is the only Native Everglades Species?  The one the right! Left side is an evasive and larger anole.

Sawgrass is not a grass but in the  hedge family. It's delicate roots provide protection for attracting small food for the Apple Snail which is the main food for the endangered snail kite.
